2/12 Peace Club Meeting and Club Expo

Hello Peace Club Members:
We are going to be having a Peace Club meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 2/12) at lunch in room 172. We have some things that I want us to talk about, plus I’ve got some exciting news to announce! Also, I hope you’ll be able to come to the Aragon Expo on Tuesday evening (yes, the same day), starting at 7 PM in the Small Gym. We will be doing a small bake sale fundraiser at the Club Expo, so feel free to bring something if you would like.

Peace Club Meeting: Tuesday, January 29th

Hello everyone,

We will be having an important Peace Club meeting this Tuesday, January 29th, at lunch in room 172. By popular demand, we will be voting for our officers (Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer). If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please be present to nominate yourself, or if you cannot be there in time, ask someone to nominate you on your behalf. If you know anyone who would be interested in being a new member, bring them with you!
Also, please mark Tuesday, February 12th on your calendars. The annual Aragon Club Expo will be that evening at 7 PM in the Small Gym, and Peace Club will be having a table. This is a significant event which is not only attended by Aragon students and staff, but also by the incoming freshman students and their parents as well. In the past we have had only a few Peace Club members there, but I’m hoping that we can get a nice-sized group of us there this year, particularly considering that we have just crossed 54 members. We will be talking about the Club Expo in more detail at the meeting.
Finally, please keep an eye on our bulletin board (across from room 156) and our brand new website (AragonPeaceClub.org), for additional information about other upcoming Peace Club events.

Peace Club Meeting & Photo: Tuesday, January 15th

Hello Peace Club Members,

The year 2008 is here and will be a busy year for Peace Club. 2008 will feature a presidential election which is sure to be one of the most notable elections in our history. In March, we will be marking the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. And in October, we will mark three years since Aragon’s Peace Club was officially formed. We are also entering 2008 with nearly 50 members, representing a three-fold increase of this time last year. We just completed our second Cards for Soldiers event and sent out 204 cards to soldiers over the holidays, and we have received about a dozen thank you notes from various soldiers in return.

We are going to be having our first meeting of the semester this Tuesday, January 15th at lunch in room 172. This will be a meeting where we will brainstorm ideas for things that Peace Club can do in 2008 and decide the direction that we want to take the club in the near future. We also do not have officially designated “officers”, but will be deciding on them at this meeting and looking for potential volunteers. Finally, we will be taking our official 2007-08 club photo, which will be going in the yearbook and on our redesigned website. We hope to see you there chalk full of ideas and looking your best!

Lastly, any Peace Club member who volunteered during the first semester qualifies for up to 15 Silver Sword Points! Mr. Colglazier (in room 172) can sign them off for you. Also, if you are a member and your fourth and/or fifth period room number has changed for second semester, please be sure to let me know so I can make sure that you still receive notifications from Peace Club.

I’m looking forward to a great year with Peace Club, and thanks to all of you for helping to make it possible!

Peace Club Meeting: Tuesday 12/4

Just one more reminder to Peace Club members that we will be having a meeting on Tuesday, December 4th, at lunch in room 172. I will be bringing along cookies and egg nog (and anyone who wants to bring some goodies as to supplement mine is welcome to do so), and we will be stuffing cards into envelopes so that we can mail them out next week. Please come at your earliest convenience, otherwise I’ll get stuck stuffing any of the leftover cards (and eating all of the leftover food, which CAN’T be very healthy for me!).

This will wrap up Peace Club’s activities for this semester, so I hope to see you all there and wish you a happy holidays! Thanks also to everyone who helped out with the Cards for Soldiers table last week and to everyone who made cards!
