Cards for Soldiers Updates

Hello Peace Club Members! Here are some quick updates:

Guest Speaker Desiree Angelo
My apologies to anyone who went last Friday to see our guest speaker and arrived to an empty room. Unfortunately, she called in at the last minute to let us know that she was ill and couldn’t make it, so we will be rescheduling the event hopefully for sometime in December.

Cards for Soldiers
Our second annual Cards for Soldiers event begins next week, and the Leadership Class and Interact Club will be helping us out and providing art supplies. The following people have volunteered to help us at our table:

  • Monday 11/26: Tom H.
  • Tuesday 11/27: Victor S. and Ashwin P.
  • Wednesday 11/28: Emily H.
  • Thursday 11/29: Fonda T. and Courtney W.
  • Friday 11/30: Jessica C. and Katie W.

On your designated day, you will receive a yellow summons excusing you from your 5th period class five minutes before lunch starts to go to the Leadership Room (112) where the supplies will be and set up. Anyone else who wants to help out at the table is free to do so! I will be dropping by during the end of lunch to help with clean up.
Also, I’d like to ask all Peace Club members to please participate and make a card (or two, or three, etc.) and encourage your friends, family, siblings, teachers, anyone you know to make a card as well. In addition to the lunchtime table, there will be a box in the Attendance office from November 26th-December 4th where cards can be dropped off anytime.

December 4th Peace Club/Interact Club Meeting
Finally, we will be having a joint Peace Club/Interact Club Meeting on Tuesday, December 4th at lunch in room 172. We will be stuffing cards during this meeting, and I will be bringing cookies and egg nog for anyone who helps stuff cards! (And if you want to bring any snacks as well, feel free to.) This meeting will sort of double as our Peace Club holiday party as well as stuffing envelopes for Cards for Soldiers, and is open to anyone who wants to come in and help out.

So, that’s what’s going on with Peace Club! Our goal for Cards for Soldiers this year is 200 cards or more, so let’s try to reach that goal!
–Douglas Bell, Aragon Peace Club President
